This week BitTitan will implement a security-enhancing update to the MigrationWiz authorization flow. This change strengthens our authentication model and ensures continued alignment with Microsoft security and MFA requirements.
As a result, some MigrationWiz workloads now require user action to continue running successfully. Customers with affected projects should review and complete the steps outlined below to avoid migration interruptions.
Who Is Impacted
You are impacted if your projects use delegated permissions with any of the following endpoints:
- OneDrive
- SharePoint
- Teams Collaboration
Projects using these endpoints must be updated to comply with the new authorization flow.
Required Actions for Impacted Projects
To restore or maintain functionality, administrators must:
- Add the Tenant ID on the Endpoint Settings page
- Complete PKCE consent for the endpoint
- Transition away from BYO (Bring Your Own) app registrations, which are no longer supported for these scenarios, and switch to the BitTitan-provided application
These steps are required for migrations to continue running under the updated authorization framework.
Email Project Migrations: Additional Configuration Required
With the updated MFA-aligned authorization model now in effect, the following email migration workloads will fail unless additional configuration steps are completed:
- Public Folders
- Tenant-to-Tenant (T2T) migrations
- Microsoft 365 Groups
- Shared Mailboxes
Resolution
Each of these migration types now requires additional Microsoft Graph permission scopes. The specific scopes vary by workload.
Administrators should refer to the Authentication Methods for Microsoft 365 documentation specifically the “Register and Configure Your Application” section—for detailed guidance on which scopes are required and how to configure them correctly.
Full Control Application (BitTitan-Supplied App)
For pre-existing projects using the BitTitan-supplied Full Control Application, no additional configuration changes are required in most cases.
Exception:
Teams Collaboration projects that use the Full Control Application in the destination tenant must be updated following the Teams Collaboration guidance described above.
To fully align existing projects with the updated authorization model, affected projects must be:
- Manually edited
- Reauthorized
- Re-run
This step is essential to ensure existing configurations meet the new permissions requirements and to prevent unexpected migration interruptions.
